  Logged in to see what was happening and just realized its been one year to the day since I registered here. Kind of amazing. This was the first internet forum I had ever joined. I was raised a JW but was never baptized and walked away from it after high school and never looked back, 98% of my family is still in. 20 some years out and I'd never had occasion to talk with anyone else that had left the Borg, which in retrospect is kind of amazing. Then I found this place and it was refreshing even after all of that time to get to hear other experiences and realize I wasn't as alone in my journey through life as I always thought I was.

  This place has been great for me, first thanks to Simon for creating such a place, and thanks to all the people that I have met here that have helped me sort of complete my journey out of the Borg, deferred as it has been. I have made many friends here (and probably some enemies, lol), some that have transcended the board into real life and it has been wonderful, knowing now that I can talk with someone that has a shared experience when I need to.

  To everyone here that I have interacted with thanks for the support, wisdom, and humor that you have extended to me. I want to name names but I don't want to offend anyone that I would forget.

  To everyone here, Salut!!! and many happy returns.

  i had the opportunity to have a discussion with an elder the other day.

  we were both in a public place and we started to talk.

  he was depressed because one of his teens is now df'ed.

  You can tell, they want to go there, but they just can't, too much invested in being JW's. My sister is like that, she just can't go there, though I can tell part of her wants too. So many caught in that conundrum.

  I prefer the term "recockulous" myself, and the most recockulous deal the dubs have going is thier jacked up, whacked out psuedo mass called the Memorial of all damn things. Where they pass around Emblems which of course no one eats except for some seriously deranged folks that no one in the congregation is too sure of anyway.

  there is only one way to tackle the issue of failed prophecy as regards watchtower publications and their own public response to the failure of their predictions and pronouncements to come true.

  I think throwing tomatos would have been a more appropriate metaphor, but seriously, an interesting spin on it, makes as much sense as any other spin I have heard.

  Trying to fathom what writers from 4000 years ago meant when they penned their stories is really a leap when you think about it. I remember in the movie Back To School when Rodney Dangerfield gets Kurt Vonnegut to write a paper for him on a Vonnegut novel, and the professor tells him that it was obvious he didn't write the paper and whoever did write had no idea what Vonnegut really meant.

  What was included, what it means, what the writer was trying to say, how can we begin to even imagine we know.

  i was reading e-watchman today and someone there is saying that after studying the what does the bible really teach book at bookstudies the next book will be the revelation book!!!.

  there isn't any real proof, but the poster claimed a letter from bethel stated this.

  perhaps some here can dig around and confirm or deny this new rumor.. we've studied it 3 times in the past and it's been awhile.

  They should really go for broke and study the Babylon the Great Has Fallen book, I remember as a kid people grumbling about that piece of crap, I bet it would really look like a festering turd in the light of the new millenium.
